One more generation does not disappoint

Having previously owned a Polar FT7 that only measured heart rate with a chest strap, a Polar V800 (at the time, the top of the line) also with a chest strap, and a reasonably good and cheap Amazfit, I decided to switch to Garmin. As a customer of these types of products, I took my time to research (considering the Venu, the Vivoactive, etc.) and found this one.
Similar to how Dacia claimed to sell cars for people who just wanted a car, this Instinct is a sports watch for those who want a great Garmin sports watch. Comfortable, light, with an 80s Casio G-Shock style, and with everything you need and more. No irrelevant details for me like colorful screens, touchscreens, music, or payment features. You have the option to activate notifications, but I don’t use that either.
I must confess that I was about to return it because when brand new, I noticed that:
The solar charging didn’t seem as revolutionary as the manufacturer claims, and while the battery is good compared to other watches, it wasn’t as much as advertised.
The Body Battery system didn’t recognize naps and only evaluated nighttime sleep. It seemed abnormal that sitting relaxed on the couch wouldn’t recharge it. Additionally, it doesn’t have a recovery system for training per se. It’s pure and simple Body Battery, and since it wasn’t working well, I wasn’t convinced.
When I had already requested the return, I removed my personal information from the watch (which is mandatory) and reset it. I put it in the box, and hours later, I decided to give it another chance. I took it out, turned it on, charged it, and… miracle! The battery is working like a charm (fully charged, it shows 27 days, and I’ve had it for almost 24 hours, and it’s still fully charged), and yesterday afternoon, dozing off and watching TV, I gained 20 energy points (it now recognizes naps and relaxation times when recharging the Body Battery).
It’s a shame that it doesn’t have a specific widget for recovery after training and rest, and how to avoid overtraining. I guess there’s no perfect watch because if there were, there wouldn’t be updates and different, more advanced versions. I’m sticking with it and very satisfied. If you have any issues, before returning it, give it a reset, and you might, like me, realize that you love it.
P.S. Since no one mentions the Garmin Connect app, it’s very good, and it has something that, for example, Polar didn’t have, and those are challenges. But be careful. Take them as a game, not as a competition, and certainly not to become obsessed. This is like challenging someone else, always with caution and without losing sight of your limits.

“Very good watch, in addition to the sports functions it has for many activities, it connects to the phone, and you receive messages and calls. On WhatsApp, it gives you the option to reply with specific phrases already installed on the watch, like ‘can’t answer now, call later,’ and similar messages. Very durable, and the battery is excellent, lasting almost two weeks of use, even with sports activities five days a week.”
